Who Am I ?

Dércio Tomás Ferreira is an Angolan screenwriter, director and editor, based in Lisbon/Portugal.

 

In 2018 he produced and directed his first short film entitled "Sondagem", in which he criticizes the behavior of youth under the influence of social media. His second work entitled "Deepression" addresses depression in black men and the taboo that exists within the black community in relation to the disease, especially in this specific group. His third film "Encanto", just like the other two, addresses another social issues.

His most notorious work is the documentary "Olhares sobre o racismo", available on Youtube, made in colaboration with the nonprofit antiracism organization SOS Racismo, in Portugal, and the online urban magazine Bantumen. In 2022 came out, what he considers, his best shortfilm yet, intituled Memo. This work joined notorious figures from Angolan cinema, such as, Silvio Nascimento, Tomás Ferreira "Walter", and the Burity Sisters.

 

Dércio's films have some particularities, which the Director considers to be the hallmark of his works. Strong stories that address social issues and carry some kind of message related to youth, the black community and / or the impact that social media has on people's behavior.

In addition to the film industry, Dércio also works in several other areas in the audiovisual field, such as the music industry, in which he has already done a dozen of music videos for several artists. And various comercial videos for companies, institutions, brands, models and more.
